Newme graduation robot
The BBT University in Japan has replaced all of its students with robots for a graduation ceremony in order to comply with local social distancing rules. The graduating students all dialed in using video conferencing tools, which allowed the students’ faces to be presented on the head-height screens of the Newme telepresence robots that were standing in for them. The robots were dressed in mortarboard hats and academic robes and students were responsible for controlling the robot to collect their diplomas.
