Exotic double VPN and Tor over VPN options
Some VPN providers provide an addition layer of security on top of their regular options. A double
VPN is one where you connect to a VPN, which in turn then connects to another VPN to route its traffic through before the traffic gets to its destination. A
Tor over VPN (or VPN over Tor) does something similar – you connect to the VPN, which then routes its traffic over the anonymising Tor network.
Are these worth it? Maybe, for super duper secret sensitive information. But you should be aware that you’ll likely take a big performance hit if you turn these options on, for what is probably a very marginal gain in security.
