Valve has managed to make a full-length franchise into a thoroughly satisfying virtual experience that is as gripping as it is innovative. The largely subterranean futuristic setting has a lot of the well-known enemies, but the new perspective manages to make them frightening in a more visceral way, and the gravity-grab functions and versatile reloading options make the game fun to interact with the entire way through.
