This is another of the console offerings that also provides online play and cloud saves, so for a lot of Switch owners it’s a bit of a nobrainer. The Nintendo Switch is a hybrid console that can be played with or without the help of a TV and power supply. There’s even a variant of the Switch that is purely portable so it’s not uncommon to see multiSwitch households (like that of mine - Ed). This makes cloud saves more valuable than ever and you can also buy a family subscription for up to eight accounts for a little over the cost of two regular subs.

As for the free games this one could be considered a little more niche than most. Subscribing to Nintendo Switch online gets you access to an ever expanding library of NES and SNES games to download and play. There are a bunch of classics in the list like games from the Super Mario Bros, Kirby, and The Legend of Zelda series. Super Metroid, Star Fox, Donkey Kong, and F-Zero make the cut as well. Many have updated multiplayer and online modes and all can be played with a single Joy-Con controller. Because these games are older they’re a great nostalgia hit and are often simple enough that younger players can pick them up easily as well.
