Forget about the iPad mini at your peril

It’s nearly two years old, but don’t discount the smallest iPad in the range.

-

At 7.9 inches, the iPad mini isn’t that much bigger than the biggest iPhone, which means portability is its biggest plus. You can’t put it in your pocket unless you’re wearing combat trousers, but you can sling it into a bag and not know it’s there. It tips the scales at just over 300g.

While the size isn’t the best for watching 4K Hollywood blockbusters, it’s going to be a great option for watching Netflix on the tube or some casual gaming with Apple Arcade on vacation. Likewise, everyday tasks like email or web browsing? Perfect in landscape mode. Then there’s Apple Pencil (first gen only) support for sketching and jotting down thoughts on the go.

So why is the iPad mini more expensive than the 10.2-inch iPad? Well, to start with, you’re getting a better display. Yes, it’s smaller but it’s fully laminated (good for viewing angles) and comes with True Tone (great colour profiling) tech.
