VR helps reduce needle anxiety in children

A new study has shown that VR is an effective tool in reducing both pain and anxiety in children undergoing intravenou­s catheter placement procedures. While for many, these procedures are bearable, for some it can be a traumatic experience. VR seems to be a powerful enough distractio­n that many patients no longer even realise their blood is being drawn. The Children’s Hospital Los Angeles’ study also showed VR was more effective than simple distractio­n.
