A new study has shown that VR is an effective tool in reducing both pain and anxiety in children undergoing intravenous catheter placement procedures. While for many, these procedures are bearable, for some it can be a traumatic experience. VR seems to be a powerful enough distraction that many patients no longer even realise their blood is being drawn. The Children’s Hospital Los Angeles’ study also showed VR was more effective than simple distraction.
