Kai Fu-Lee, a former executive at Google, Apple, and Microsoft and an expert on AI has said that tech companies have been one of the most important drivers in the increase of wealth inequality in recent years and that AI was a critical factor in those companies profitability. In talks to promote his new book AI 2041: Ten Visions for Our Future, Lee said that “When it’s simultaneously making a small number of people ultra-rich and making many people jobless, that is the wealth inequality that AI will exacerbate.”
