Hidden changes and additions

-

As per usual, there are many hidden changes in the latest version of watchOS that are not noted prominently by Apple. Many are very useful, however, and will come together to make your days a little bit easier and much more efficient. Most are activated by default and need no setup at all.

1Always on display improvements

Specific apps such as Maps, Stopwatch, Alarms and some third-party apps will now support the Always On feature.

4Tai Chi

Tai Chi has also been added as a new workout option alongside Pilates. The list gets longer and more versatile with every single new watchOS release.

2Scroll to select

When sending messages, you can now highlight a word using the digital crown, and then tap it to see new word options and even related emoji to use.

5Real people

When a new message is received, you will now see the image for the person on the main screen. Their image is also shown in the resulting conversation.

3 Walking steadiness

The Apple Watch can now monitor walking steadiness to alert you if you are at risk of falling in the next year. Use the iPhone Health app to set it up.

6 Digital ID

In the future, you can expect the Wallet app to support true digital ID such as a driving licence. This feature should move to the Apple Watch by default.
