Like most apps for food and loyalty, 7/11 offers mostly what you would expect. App-only deals for cheap banana bread, free coffees, and pie combos. You can scan the app each time you head in for points and rewards, and it also allows you to hook in your velocity points card. Lovely.

But there’s a killer feature lying in the core of this app, one that has saved me money and time on countless occasions. Fuel Lock is an ingenious little tool that scans your general area (give or take 15-20km in a circumference around you), finds the cheapest price for your fuel type at a 7/11 store and locks it in.

The bonus here is not only that it’s valid for a full week, but that it’s valid at any 7/11 store. It also allows for multiple fuelling, which means it could be used for different vehicles at different times.
