HOW TO Record placenames correctly

1 RECORD ACCURATELY

When you come to record an event for a person or family, click inside the Place field to see the All Places dialog. If you’ve previously set up the place for a different event, select it from here for consistency.

2 NON–STREET ADDRESSES

If you’re recording a jurisdictional place only, type the first part into the Place field and click “Lookup Coordinate”. Type the name of the place, then select it. Click Assign.

3 RECORD PRECISE ADDRESS

If you’re recording an exact street address, enter it into the Place, County, State, and Country fields. Once done, click Save – if prompted here, click “Create new place”.
