HOW TO Capture web pages

-

1 START WEB CAPTURE

Open your web browser and locate the web page you’d like to ‘snip’ to Zotero. Look at the Zotero button in your browser toolbar: if it’s blue, the page can be saved to Zotero as ‘embedded metadata’, which means all the bibliographic information is added to Zotero automatically. Click the button to bring up a tiny pop-up window.

2 SET ITEM DETAILS

The web connector enables you to choose where to save the item. Click the down arrow button, next to the ‘Saving to’ drop-down to expand the box. From here you can choose where to save the page within your library, and add relevant keywords as tag if applicable. When you’re finished, click Done to save the item.

3 SAVE SNAPSHOT

The item will be added to your Zotero library with key information added, such as title and type (web page). You’ll also see that inside the item is a ‘Snapshot’. Zotero saves a complete offline copy (images included) of the page to your hard drive, enabling you to refer back to the item later exactly as it was when you downloaded it.
