Review and hide your streaming data

-

Even after you’ve changed the privacy settings on your smart TV, your data can still be collected by the apps you use. This is partly so services can recommend content that suits your interests, but it also tells them your location and the device(s) you use.

To see the information Netflix has collected about you visit www. snipca.com/41089 and click Submit Request (see screenshot opposite). Although the service says it doesn’t sell your data to advertisers, this report is surprisingly detailed and there’s no way to withhold the info. However, the Netflix website ( www.netflix.com) lets you delete your viewing history to stop it being used to make recommendations. Click the menu in the top-right corner, choose Account and select your profile name. Click ‘View’ next to ‘Viewing activity’ to see all the TV shows and films you’ve watched, then click the Hide buttons next to entries you want to remove from your history.

Prime Video offers a similar option at www.snipca.com/41112, but some streaming services, including Now TV and Disney+, don’t let you clear your viewing history.
