MAL DE DEBARQUEMENT SYNDROME

-

Most people take a day or two to get rid of their sea legs after a cruise, but some feel a disorientating swaying longterm. Mal de Debarquement Syndrome, or ‘land sickness’, is a neurological disorder that most commonly affects women. The vestibular system – your body’s balance control centre – fails to readjust on land and you feel you’re in a state of perpetual motion. There is no known cure. Some people deal with feeling off-balance for years.
