The lovely Joan runs and manages The Haven Centre, a local respite for homeless people who are unable to afford basic necessities.
Joan works tirelessly seven days a week and receives zero pay, spending her time providing healthy meals and essential items for those less fortunate.
The Haven is a place where people can pop by and enjoy bacon and eggs, baked beans, toast, cereal and warm porridge.
Not only does Joan provide a haven for people to go and get something to eat, but also to rest and feel safe.
Respectfully, Joan doesn’t judge or look down on anyone because of their circumstances.
She relies solely on donations from the public and has often used her own money to make sure people have something to eat.
There is nothing that Joan wouldn’t do to give these people a smile and give them back their dignity, a basic human right.
She has helped people get off drugs, find a place to live and provided them with groceries to take home, if needed.
She is a real Christmas angel.
