JOIN OUR CAMPAIGN FOR CCTV IN CARE HOMES
That’s life! is supporting Noleen Hausler’s campaign calling for the government to legislate for the use of ethical video surveillance in private rooms of aged care facilities, with the permission of residents, or their family members and guardians.
Currently, each Australian state and territory has its own set of laws when it comes to the use of recording devices in private rooms in aged care facilities.
None of the laws explicitly permit family members to install CCTV cameras in the aged care residences of their loved ones. Family members who wish to have the comfort of having their own video surveillance in place at an aged care facility may be putting themselves at risk of a criminal prosecution in doing so.
that’s life! believes every resident has the right to quality care, to feel safe from the threat of abhorrent abuse and that families are entitled to the peace of mind that their loved ones are being treated with the utmost respect.
