Secret Story

-

My date was already waiting at the bar. ‘Hi, I’m Mia,’ I said nervously.

‘Mia,’ he smiled, standing up and giving me a hug. ‘I’m Steve. What can I get you?’ ‘Dry white, thanks,’ I said. As he ordered, I tried not to get my hopes up.

Steve was not only as handsome as his online pic suggested, he seemed warm and well-mannered too.

‘You’re beautiful, Mia,’ he said, handing me my wine. ‘Your photo didn’t do you justice.’

‘You’re not bad yourself,’ I flirted.

Steve, 38, who worked in finance, had travelled all over the world and had me in stitches with his stories.

He was also incredibly sexy.

By the end of the night, we’d exchanged a hot kiss in the candle-lit bar.

‘I’d love to see you again,’ he said. ‘Would you like to come back for a night cap?’

I wouldn’t normally go back to a guy’s place on a first date but this man was something special.

‘Okay,’ I smiled.

We could barely keep our hands off each other in the taxi. And when we got to his apartment, he led me to his king-size bed where I found myself swept away in the passion of the moment.

‘That was amazing,’ he said afterwards.

‘It sure was,’ I beamed. ‘Janey would kill me if she knew though,’ he laughed. My heart stopped.

‘Is that your girlfriend?’ I asked, cautiously.

‘My wife,’ he replied.

‘You didn’t tell me you had a wife!’ I hissed.

‘I’m sorry, I got carried away,’ he replied.

‘But you put your profile up online!’ I pointed out.

‘You arranged to meet up with me!’

‘Well, she’s been overseas visiting family and I got lonely,’ he shrugged. ‘Anyhow, why are you upset? You had a good time, didn’t you?’ ‘This is unbelievable,’ I said, incredulous. ‘I’d never have slept with you had I known you were married!’

Jumping out of bed, I threw on my clothes and ordered a cab.

It was 10 minutes away. Not wanting to be anywhere near Steve, I went into the bathroom.

I felt like such an idiot, being played like that.

And I bet his wife had no idea what that rat got up to while she was away.

Then I had an idea. Maybe she should know...

Searching the drawers, I found an old eyeliner.

And digging into my jeans pocket, I found an old shopping receipt.

Dear Janey, your husband put himself on Tinder, brought me back here, and slept with me in your bed, I wrote. I didn’t know he was married until afterwards or I’d never have done it. I’m really sorry.

‘Are you all right in there?’ Steve said, rattling the doorknob.

‘Won’t be a minute,’ I called, turning on the tap to buy myself time.

Frantically opening all the cupboards, I finally found a place to hide the note where Steve would never look.

Brilliant! I thought, shoving the note in.

A week on, I noticed Steve’s Tinder profile was gone. I felt sorry for Janey but I’m glad I exposed him.

If my man was sleeping around, I’d like someone to tell me. Us women should stick together.

But I can’t help smiling that cheating Steve was exposed by a note... in a box of tampons!

Horrified she’d slept with a married man, Mia, 33, took revenge...
