HEAD AND NECK CANCER
• Symptoms include a lump or a sore that doesn’t heal, a persistent sore throat, difficulty swallowing, and a changed or hoarse voice. It’s more common in people over 40 and men are three times more likely than women to develop it, with smokers at greatest risk.
• Treatment includes surgery, radiation therapy, and chemotherapy. If detected early, the five-year survival rate is around 70 per cent.
