AUSSIE HERO
Wombats are known to be great mates when it comes to other animals in the outback. And now, a farmer has discovered this Aussie star has not only been sharing burrows with furry friends, but has also uncovered an underground well! As water became scarce during the drought, wombats in the Hunter region in NSW tapped into an underground water table metres below the surface. This path helped birds, goannas, possums, wallabies, echidnas, and even emus find water during a time of drought.
