With a hurricane bearing down on the Bahamas, animal lover Chella Phillips opened her door to the stray dogs of the island before the devastating tropical cyclone made landfall. With 97 pups seeking shelter, Chella boarded up her windows as the storm blew in. But Chella hadn’t finished there.

With donations from around the world, she sought medical treatment and homes for her four-legged pals.
