Spooky Story

After Lynne left hospital, her house didn’t feel the same

- Lynne Heuermann, 53, Gold Coast, Qld

Hello, beautiful,’ I cooed to my baby, Jade. As she was born four weeks premature, we ended up staying in hospital to build up her strength.

It was during that time that I felt a presence around me, particularly at night when feeding Jade.

On the third night I felt the presence closer than ever. Then the mattress near my feet indented, like someone had sat on the bed!

‘Who are you?’ I whispered, spooked, but there was no reply.

My invisible night visitor returned every night. The hospital curtains

would be pulled open by an unseen hand and Jade’s dummy kept being moved.

What’s going on? I thought. Is it a spirit?

Finally, after two weeks, we were allowed home. But on the very rst night I got up to feed Jade, I walked into her room and bam! – I felt the presence.

‘Oh no, the ghost has followed me home,’ I gulped.

Nervously, I took Jade to the lounge room to feed her. And as I sat on the sofa, there was suddenly an indent next to me, like someone had just sat down.

Terri ed the entity might hurt Jade, I brought in my protective dog, Sabre. He looked at whatever was on the couch, then relaxed. That made me think that, whatever it was, it meant us no harm.

The spirit hung around Jade and me all the time, although my then husband, Glen, never detected it.

Sabre could though; he’d watch it as it followed me around the house. It mainly hung around Jade’s nursery.

Each time I went in, the mobile above her cot would start moving madly. And objects such as keys, books and my handbag would get shifted about all the time.

I felt permanently exhausted, too, which I put down to having a new baby.

After a year, I decided to see a clairvoyant for a reading, although I didn’t tell her about the weird happenings at home.

‘You have a male earthbound spirit around you,’ she said.

‘What do you mean?’ I asked.

‘When people die, if they don’t move into the light, they become earthbound,’ she explained. ‘They live on your energy and drain it.’

She said the man had died of cancer on the day Jade was born and, confused, he had wandered around the hospital.

Apparently, when a new baby comes into the world there’s a lot of light around and he followed it.

Then, taking a liking to me and Jade, he decided to stay. Accompanying us home, he’d been living with us ever since. And he had been sapping my energy.

‘Oh my goodness,’ I cried, stunned.

She moved him on into the light right, then and there. The difference was astounding. Suddenly I had so much more energy!

Today, Jade is 28, and I’ve never felt the entity around again. It’s so strange to think I brought a ghost home from the hospital! ●
