CATCH OF THE DAY

-

Feuzi Zabaat, 17, was walking home when he happened to look up to the sky – but he spotted something disturbing.

‘I was walking down the road when I saw a two-year-old girl hanging from a window,’ Feuzi told Demiroren News Agency.

The window, in

Istanbul, Turkey, was two storeys up, and Feuzi knew a fall from that height could kill the tiny toddler. So the teen sprang into action.

Security camera footage shows Feuzi crossing the road and looking up intently at the window.

Then, he stretches his arms out above his head, as the little girl falls.

‘I caught the child mid-air before she hit the ground,’ he told the BBC.

The girl was just centimetres from the ground when the hero managed to grab her and pull her to his chest.

Feuzi cradled the crying toddler as bystanders ran to help him. One of them called Feuzi a ‘lion of a person’ for his quick thinking.

The little girl, Doha Muhammed, had wandered to the open window, while her unsuspecting mother was cooking, and tumbled over the edge.

Doha’s grateful father, Yusuf, called Feuzi a hero, and gave him a reward for saving his daughter, who was uninjured.

‘I did what was necessary,’ the humble teenager said. ●
