A CRICKET um­pire can of­fi­ci­ate for ju­nior, school and club matches or work to­wards um­pir­ing at a state, na­tional or in­ter­na­tional level. Less ad­vanced um­pires work on a ca­sual ba­sis. Ac­cred­i­ta­tion is pro­vided through train­ing pro­grams ap­pro­pri­ate to the grade of­fered by the South Aus­tralian Cricket As­so­ci­a­tion and Cricket Aus­tralia.

$10 an hour for ju­nior/club games to $250,000 a year for se­nior in­ter­na­tional um­pires.

Um­pires get a birds-eye view of the sport and spend their work days in the sun­shine. Elite in­ter­na­tional um­pires travel the world fol­low­ing the sum­mer sea­son be­cause it is a sum­mer sport. They po­ten­tially work on-field 75 days a year.
