Workers jump at improving skills
number of workers who have started a training program is at an alltime high, new figures show.
Statistics from the National Centre for Vocational Education Research show a record number of 57,200 people started a traineeship in the December quarter last year. Its research reveals this was an increase of 12.8 per cent from the same time the previous year.
Traineeships in trade careers increased by 11.1 per cent while non-trade training grew by 14.2 per cent. Skills, Jobs and Workplace Minister Chris Evans says the Federal Government’s priority is to provide workers with the skills they need to benefit from opportunities that a strengthening economy creates.
