Travel writing dream career
TRAVEL writing is the dream career for 59 per cent of Australians, new research reveals. Travel and lifestyle website lastminute.com.au surveyed 17,000 Australians and said the allure of being paid to see the world was hard to resist for most respondents.
It was ranked well ahead of other careers including elite sportsperson, which received 13 per cent of the votes, chief executive at 12 per cent and rock star at 8 per cent.
Five per cent of respondents want to be a supermodel and 4 per cent dream of being a newsreader.
The research revealed workers want to indulge a passion for travel and writing, share their experiences with others, work outside of an office and experience different activities every day in being a travel writer.
The website is now giving aspiring writers the chance to live their dream job by submitting a blog entry and photos about a recent adventure.
Three people from each state will be shortlisted, with the winners receiving free experiences to write about each month of the year.
