TRAVEL writ­ing is the dream ca­reer for 59 per cent of Aus­tralians, new re­search re­veals. Travel and life­style web­site last­ sur­veyed 17,000 Aus­tralians and said the al­lure of be­ing paid to see the world was hard to re­sist for most re­spon­dents.

It was ranked well ahead of other ca­reers in­clud­ing elite sportsper­son, which re­ceived 13 per cent of the votes, chief ex­ec­u­tive at 12 per cent and rock star at 8 per cent.

Five per cent of re­spon­dents want to be a su­per­model and 4 per cent dream of be­ing a news­reader.

The re­search re­vealed work­ers want to in­dulge a pas­sion for travel and writ­ing, share their ex­pe­ri­ences with oth­ers, work out­side of an of­fice and ex­pe­ri­ence dif­fer­ent ac­tiv­i­ties ev­ery day in be­ing a travel writer.

The web­site is now giv­ing as­pir­ing writers the chance to live their dream job by sub­mit­ting a blog en­try and pho­tos about a re­cent ad­ven­ture.

Three peo­ple from each state will be short­listed, with the win­ners re­ceiv­ing free ex­pe­ri­ences to write about each month of the year.
