RECRUITERS can conduct national criminal checks in a matter of minutes instead of weeks because of an upgrade to WorkPro’s web-based pre-employment screening program.
Manager Tania Evans says the upgrade to the personal, employment and induction information portal eliminates the need for recruiters to submit manual, paper-based requests and complements its induction training modules.
It also reduces the amount of time it takes to hire and safeguard organisations against a negligent hire.
Ms Evans says recruiters want to meet their legal obligations but there can be a fine balance between proper screening and hiring in a timeframe which meets a client’s needs.
‘‘It’s these competing pressures that can lead to employers cutting corners,’’ she says.
The upgrade also allows recruiters to make instant, informed decisions on candidates and be able to provide work-ready workers. ‘‘Recruiters can now induct and screen candidates online in less than an hour,’’ Ms Evans says.
Job applicants also only need to complete their employment-related information once for recruiters as details are stored in the system for validation by potential employers.
