More seek training in quest for work
MORE people are taking up apprenticeships and traineeships as they become increasingly aware of the need for skills in obtaining work, the Federal Government says.
Skills, Jobs and Workplace Minister Chris Evans says a 6.3 per cent increase in the number of Australians in apprenticeships and traineeships in the year to December 31, 2010, shows that investment in training is continuing to provide results for thousands of people.
‘‘The Government is focused on providing people with the security and dignity that comes from work,’’ he says. ‘‘Boosting completion rates is fundamental to ensuring more Australians get the skills they need to take part in the workforce.’’
