Key roles

Computer-aided design (CAD) drafters work in the construction, architecture and engineering industries. They prepare sketches, charts, tabulations, plans and designs for a range of projects ranging from engineering drainage works and roads to new homes and dams. They use computers rather than drawing designs by hand and can create two or three-dimensional images. They also read and interpret technical drawings. CAD drafters usually are employed full time by drafting firms but can be selfemployed or work from home.
