MICHELLE BENTLEY General manager, Donington transition and outplacement
FESS up! Go to your manager and own up. If you need, take an advocate with you. Carrying guilt, regret and worry will not alleviate your concerns or fears. Apologise and offer to make amends in some way. For example, agree you will never repeat the behaviour, apologise personally to anyone directly impacted by your actions or offer to pay for any physical damage done. Nothing is more disarming of a potentially serious issue than a sincere apology, contrition and remorse. Hoping you won’t be found out, lying, denials or blaming others are not values that will be forgiven or rewarded.
