Fewer apprentices drop out of training
MORE apprentices were in training last year than the previous year as more people started and fewer people dropped out.
Latest statistics compiled for the Department of Industry, Innovation, Climate Change, Science, Research and Tertiary Education show there were 454,700 apprentices in training as of last December, a 1.6 per cent increase on the previous year.
The number of people who completed their apprenticeship during the year also increased by 5.7 per cent to 191,200.
A 1.7 per cent decline in the number of people who cancelled or withdrew from their apprenticeship occurred but 138,700 apprentices still dropped out of training.
