Minimum wage rises by 2.6pc
AN extra $15.80 a week will now appear in the pay packets of Australia’s lowest-paid workers as an increase to the National Minimum Wage came into effect on Monday.
About 1.5 million workers have been granted the 2.6 per cent pay rise. The minimum weekly wage is now $622.20 a week, or $16.37 an hour.
The ACTU will hold National Check Your Pay Day on July 12 to encourage staff to check that their employer is paying the increase.
