Ger­man tabloid Bild re­ports BMW halted the pro­duc­tion line in its Mu­nich plant ear­lier this month af­ter two work­ers passed out from the com­bined ef­fects of al­co­hol, am­phet­a­mines and syn­thetic mar­i­juana. BMW says the in­ci­dent in­ter­rupted pro­duc­tion for about 40 min­utes and cost the com­pany a “five-fig­ure sum”.

HOLDEN COINS

The Aus­tralian Mint is pro­duc­ing a se­ries of Holden Her­itage coins to mark the end of lo­cal man­u­fac­tur­ing in Oc­to­ber. The 50c coins, 11 in to­tal, com­mem­o­rate the Holden 48-215 through to the VC Com­modore and are $15 each.

HIGHER MARKS

The base price of VW’s Golf will rise slightly when the Mk 7.5 model lands in July. The base 92 TSI en­gine de­parts and the new starter mo­tor is the punchier 110kW turbo four. The Golf also picks up auto safety brak­ing and 16-inch al­loys.
