The Pilkingtons have the sevenyear real-estate itch. Cheerful FIVEaa radio jock Tony Pilkington says for ‘‘whatever reason’’ he and his wife, Anne, move house every seven years and, well, their cycle’s almost done a 360 again.

The Pilkington pair and their offspring, 21 and 24, are preparing to auction their stunning Stonyfell home.

Where they’re going nobody knows.

‘‘We haven’t got a clue which is ridiculous at our age,’’ Tony says with a laugh.

‘‘It’s exciting, dangerous, stupid, call it whatever you like.’’

It is a bittersweet sale for the downsizing Pilkingtons, who have loved living in the Gandys Gully Rd home. In fact, having the home on the market has made them question just why they are selling it as they see the many standout features crystallised in words.

‘‘It’s not until you’ve got it on the market that you think ‘I wish I used it more’,’’ Tony says honestly.

‘‘The views are just spectacular and it’s even better at night when all the lights are on. I’ts got a good feel about it ... it’s made to be enjoyed.’’ The contemporary home offers views across the city and Hills face, and has open-plan living and three bedrooms.

Romantics will be carried away by the Juliet balcony off the master suite.

The property is offered on two separate titles, totalling about 1443sq m.

Toop & Toop agents Lew Toop and Debi Zecevich are handling the sale.

It goes to auction on April 30 with a price guide of $1,650,000.

Remember the Clarence Gardens property we told you about last week?

The former returned serviceman’s home with the surprise bonus of a room painted by Adelaide painter John Dowie?

Well, it went under the hammer on Saturday and sold $ 5 0, 5 00 over r es er ve with Smallacombe’s John McRostie.

We hear the buyer intends keeping the house and protecting the walls that were the John Dowie mural.

General manager Peter Asimakopoulos has opened a new Brock Harcourts office at Mawson Lakes with business owners Peterand Niki Koulla-Shizas.

They say they have a strong client base in the Mawson Lakes area so the new office is a logical conclusion.
