Just made for families
THREE years ago, Franca Papalia and family custom-built their Glengowrie home to cater for everything three energetic children could ever wish for.
‘‘We built three years ago and I’ve got three kids so it was all based around them,’’ Ms Papalia says.
‘‘They love swimming, which is the reason for the pool, but I still wanted a bit of a backyard. There is a lovely grassed area to the side. My kids have loved living here – it’s the perfect family home.’’
The ground floor of the twostorey, four-bedroom house is designed as a prime living space, with family in mind.
‘‘The luxurious kitchen and living areas all overlook the pool because I wanted to be able to see out the backyard and what the kids were doing for safety,’’ Ms Papalia says.
The open-plan kitchen with meals area has an island bar and stone benches, glass splashback and stainless-steel Smeg appliances.
Sliding glass doors lead to an outdoor living space with polished porcelain tiles and fully equipped kitchen, overlooking the heated pool and spa.
‘‘The outside has plenty of room for a dining table and a couch and when we’ve entertained we have had 50 people in there,’’ Ms Papalia says.
‘‘The way the pool is positioned with the direction of the sun has it protected from sunlight most of the time, and there is a big beautiful shade cloth over the top.’’
There is also a sauna, which can be accessed from the pool deck.
Three bedrooms are on the first floor, with the large master bedroom boasting walk-in robes and an ensuite with a spa and double vanities. The two other bedrooms are near a separate bathroom.
‘‘One of the bedrooms is massive and could be used as a living room. I had two queensize beds in there at one stage,’’ Ms Papalia says.
‘‘I think a family would be perfect for this house, one which likes the sunlight, pool and living near the beach.
‘‘It’s a quiet old street that’s slowly becoming rejuvenated.’’
