Value by the sea

DRAWN to the seaside, vendor Karen May knew instantly a two-bedroom unit in Semaphore would become her first home. She bought the Dunn St unit in 2004 after looking at other beachside suburbs, including Glenelg and Henley Beach.

‘‘I found I got more value here. I have a garage, a front courtyard and backyard, and it’s just a stone’s throw from the beach,’’ she says.

‘‘I used to run every morning and walk every evening . . . it’s like a village by the sea.’’

Ms May says she is sad to say goodbye to the seaside suburb.

The unit features an open-plan design, separate bathroom and laundry. The main bedroom has french doors that open to a courtyard.

Ms May says the unit would best suit a retired or young couple.

‘‘It suits a young person and exercise buffs because it is a really vibrant area,’’ she says. Address: 2/28 Dunn St. Agent: LJ Hooker Walkerville, ph 8269 7711, Matthew Gryst 0411 774 546. Open: 4.30pm to 5pm today. Price guide: $375,000.

‘‘There is a perception people have that Semaphore is far away, but actually it is really close to the city via Port Rd or the train, which takes 10 to 15 minutes.’’

The home also includes undercover parking, gas heating and reverse-cycle airconditioning.
