Design made to measure
A spacious townhouse is built with family love, writes Katrina Stokes.
THE vendor of a modern three-bedroom townhouse loves the way she designed the home so much that she’s building a similar one in the same street. ‘‘I’m building almost exactly the same thing on a smaller scale,’’ vendor Patricia Harous says.
‘‘I’m downsizing because the kids are getting older.’’
Built five years ago, the two-storey home is one of two identical townhouses.
‘‘There was an old home on the block originally. I bought the home with somebody . . . he sold his half and I kept mine,’’ Ms Harous says.
She lives in the home with her son, Jimmy, 28, and daughter, Christiana, 18.
Input into the home’s modern and fresh design was a family affair.
Ms Harous designed the home with her son, who was studying interior architecture at the time.
‘‘We basically wanted a freeflowing, open-plan home,’’ she says.
The townhouse has been designed in two parts and features three bedrooms upstairs while the downstairs area includes an openplan kitchen, living and dining area.
‘‘It’s close to town, close to schools and to King William Rd and trams to the beach,’’ Ms Harous says.
