Anyone for tennis, or a very big party?
You can invite a crowd to an extensive Unley Park villa, writes Tom Dougherty.
ARETURN veranda villa at Unley Park with a pool and a tennis court is perfect for entertaining, vendor Jeanie Elliot says. ‘‘For entertaining the whole house is absolutely brilliant, that is one of its real strengths,’’ she says.
‘‘The house and garden flows beautifully, we have had lots of parties and even had a big do for our office with more than 200 people, and it didn’t feel like a crowd.’’
Originally built in 1884, the fourbedroom home has been renovated since Ms Elliot bought it nine years ago.
‘‘We did some renovations, we took out a wall in the kitchen and opened up the family room and redecorated the whole house,’’ she says.
‘‘It meant we could see out to the pool and watch the kids out there and it let a lot more light in to the back of the house.’’
The home has four bedrooms in the main building, with french doors out to the veranda, a walk-in robe and an ensuite with a double vanity, a shower and a bidet.
One of the other bedrooms has a builtin robe and two have ceiling fans.
They are serviced by a bathroom which has a bath and a shower.
In the middle of the home is a formal loungeroom and a formal dining room, which also has four sets of french doors that open out to the veranda and the backyard.
At the back of the home is an open-plan kitchen, meals and living room, with windows along two sides.
The kitchen features stainless-steel appliances, polished timber floors, a breakfast bar and white cupboards.
‘‘It is very open and has heaps of bench space, lovely granite tops most of the way through and you can fit lots of people in there without it feeling crowded,’’ Ms Elliot says.
The living room looks out over a bricksurrounded solar-heated inground pool in the backyard and there is also a flood-lit tennis court.
Separated from the main house is a single-storey cottage, which has two bedrooms, both feature built-in robes.
There is also a two-way bathroom with a bath, a kitchen with a breakfast bar, a living room and french doors that open out to a veranda.
‘‘It makes the idea of people staying for an extended period of time much more tenable because it has a bathroom and a kitchen,’’ she says. The property also has a laundry with external access, and a detached four-car garage.
