Brighton up your lifestyle
It’s a dream home come true, writes Tom Dougherty.
ABLOCK near the beach at South Brighton was ideal for vendor Michael Clarke and he then created his dream home. ‘‘When we moved out here from the UK we promised ourselves beachside living, and we liked the Brighton area and loved the size of the plot,’’ he says.
‘‘So we purchased the house that was on there and demolished it and got Scott Salisbury to build us what we thought was our perfect house.’’
The property has four bedrooms, with the master at the front on the ground floor.
It features a walk-in robe, an ensuite with a shower, and french doors that open out to a courtyard at the side of the home.
There are three more bedrooms on the top floor, all feature walk-in robes and one has an ensuite with a shower.
Also upstairs is a family room and a two-way bathroom with a bath.
The main living area is at the back of the home on the ground floor and it consists of an open-plan kitchen, dining and living area, which has a whitetiled floor.
‘‘We really wanted to include simple, open-plan living with high ceilings and plenty of light; we wanted to maximise the natural light you get here in Australia,’’ he says.
Features of the kitchen include an island bench with a breakfast bar, modern stainless steel appliances including an induction cooktop, a 900mm-wide oven, CaesarStone benches and a butler’s pantry.
French doors open out from the living area to a covered entertaining area, which has an extender blind, CaesarStone benches, a built-in barbecue and hotplate, and there is a deck adjacent.
It looks over an inground fully-tiled 25m Magna pool that is surrounded by frameless glass fencing.
There is also a formal loungeroom downstairs, a laundry with external access, and a double garage at the front with an automatic roller door.
