Just go with the flow
This modern makeover works perfectly, writes Tom Bowden.
WHEN Julie and Richard Hart built a home at Tranmere two years ago, they knew they wanted a change. ‘‘We had a character home so we wanted something completely different and that’s the reason we went modern,’’ Mrs Hart says.
The home has wired sound, open-plan living and quality fittings, she says.
Mrs Hart says the home was designed to accommodate fun and family. ‘‘We entertain a lot so we made sure we built a place that was perfect for doing that,’’ Mrs Hart says.
‘‘And, being Italians, we’ve got big families and whenever it’s someone’s birthday we get a whole lot of people over to the house and it works perfectly for that.
‘‘There are so many parts of the house for people to gather when entertaining, and I love how it opens out and flows beautifully from the front to the backyard.’’
The open-plan kitchen features stainless steel appliances, an island bench with stone benchtop and breakfast bar and ample storage opportunities.
‘‘One of the best things that I’ll really miss is the larder room, because the kitchen always looks nice and tidy because everything is in there out of sight,’’ Mrs Hart.
‘‘And it’s also really handy because it opens to the garage as well so you can just load all your groceries straight into it.’’
The home has four bedrooms. The master suite has a walk-in robe and an attached ensuite with walk-in shower and a television.
An outdoor kitchen with barbecue, sink and television opens out to an inground spa with water feature and an infrared sauna.
Mrs Hart says the home’s layout - with the bedrooms at opposite ends of the house - was perfect for a family, and that everything their family needed was close by.
‘‘We loved Tranmere because it’s not too far from the city,’’ Mrs Hart says.
‘‘And we have shops close and my son is into tennis and there are a lot of tennis courts around, and with me working in the city, it’s just such a handy spot.’’
