When it comes to coastal living, homes don’t come more luxurious than this stunning Tennyson property, which is virtually unrecognisable from when it last hit the market more than six years ago.

Lisa King and Bill Vis bought the property in 2014 and, over the course of a number of years, set about transforming it into a wonderful family home and the ultimate entertainer, altering the floorplan to end up with about 850sqm of indoor and rooftop living space.

“We bought it pretty much as a shell and then we decorated it,” Ms King says.

“We added rooms and created bathrooms and gave it a whole makeover and spent a lot of money on it – probably too much! We put a lift in and put a whole new level on the rooftop which wasn’t there before and we added in a Teppanyaki kitchen. We’ve given it a full fit-out and it’s gorgeous. My partner really loved both the lake and the beach and it’s got a really good view of both. We were looking around the area and couldn’t find anything we liked and then when this place came up we just grabbed it.

“We thought we’d just buy this place and spend a little bit of money on it to turn it into what we wanted and that turned into two-anda-half years of renovations. Having said that, we’re really proud of how it turned out. We really love it and we’ve been really happy here.

“We didn’t really have a master plan of how we wanted it to go, we just did bits as we went, but we made sure it was top quality throughout.

“A lot of the cabinetry is handmade by Ken Trask of First Class Cabinets, we’ve got Ralph Lauren wallpaper and some of the tiles are Versace and were imported through Agatha O Interiors, so there are a few designer details throughout the house.”

The home is set over four levels and features five bedrooms – the master suite, with it’s luxurious ensuite and glam dressing room Ms King’s favourite feature of the property.

“We really wanted a huge master bedroom with a his-and-hers shower looking out to the lake and I really wanted a nice big wardrobe for me,” she says. “We also wanted a beautiful area up top to cook without having to be outside in the weather. But I really love that master bedroom most, I’ll struggle to give that up because I’m never going to find something like that again, so I’ll really miss that.”

Rather than having all of the entertainment areas on the one level, Ms King says they are spread out over a number of floors, giving them extra versatility while hosting guests. An indoor pool and spa sit on the lower level, near a home theatre, a gym and a bar, while the first floor houses the stunning kitchen and an open-plan meals and family area that opens out to a veranda and a balcony. Most of the bedrooms are on the second floor, while the Teppanyaki kitchen, and of course those stunning views, are the highlight of the third floor.

“With the top area you can open it all up and have that whole indoor/outdoor entertaining thing and have your views,” Ms King says. “And then we’ve got a great bar downstairs near the pool there which is fantastic for entertaining. We use that a lot and the spa, in particular, gets

a lot of use in winter. We’ve had many nights where people have come round for drinks and dancing by the bar that have ended up with people spontaneously jumping into the pool. It’s been a really fun house.”

With just Lisa and Bill in the home now, the time has come to downsize, with the couple looking to build something on the lakefront.

“We love the area so much we’d never leave it and we have just the most gorgeous neighbours,” Ms King says. “We all know each other really well and the thought of leaving them behind and living in an area where we wouldn’t still see them all of the time is really sad.

“The house is too big for us now and it’s got to the point where it’s better suited to a family with older children who will really use the whole of the home to its fullest. Were it not too big for us we’d never leave here. We love it.

“With the home being set over four levels, and there being so much space, you could have three families in there and not really ever see each other.”
