I know what regular readers must be thinking: “Tom’s found his dream home. This is the one, isn’t it? The quest is over. He’s gone and found it and now he can buy it, quit his job, move there and stop subjecting us to his nonsense week in, week out.”
Let’s unpack this Patagonia home and go through my criteria. Rural setting? Check. Plenty of rough-hewn timber? Check. Plenty of natural stone? Check. Space for woodworking? Check. Space for gardening and beekeeping? Check. Enough room to hit a golf ball or ride a horse shirtless solely for the enjoyment of the (pervy) local woodland creatures? Check. Freshwater – either a lake, river or creek – from which to catch fish? Sadly, no check. Darn! We were so close too, but that’s something I’m not prepared to compromise on. So you’re stuck with me and my ramblings for as long as the quest goes on.
Oh, and also I have, like, no money. So there’s that.
