thing can safely be said about the Mu­sica Viva apart­ment: it has the most im­pres­sive door key I’ve ever seen. You could deck a bur­glar with it, or build your bi­ceps. You wouldn’t ca­su­ally toss it on the ta­ble; you cer­tainly wouldn’t for­get it is in your pocket. So the chal­lenge for the apart­ment is to live up to its im­pres­sive key.

And, gen­er­ally speak­ing, it does. Bux­ton Manor is a 1908 red brick man­sion in beau­ti­fully kept grounds, di­vided into apart­ments for overnight stays. Mu­sica Viva’s large sit­ting room was once the games room, its kitchen part of the old ball­room, and its vast bed­room the main sleep­ing quar­ters.
