Day one will see you chauffeured from your home to Adelaide International Airport where you will meet your tour escort. You will fly Singapore Airlines to Singapore and catch a connecting flight to Bangkok. A coach will take you to the Asia Hotel Bangkok where you will stay for two nights.
On day two, take a tour of the Grand Palace on the Chao Phraya River. In the compound is Wat Phra Kao, the chapel of the Emerald Buddha.
After breakfast on day three you will leave the city’s hustle and bustle for Kanchanaburi, stopping to visit to the World War II cemetery and the Thailand-Burma Railway Centre.
Then it is on to the famous Bridge on the River Kwai, built by prisoners of war. A train takes you to Tamkrasae station from where you continue by coach to Hellfire Pass and visit the ANZAC Memorial. You will then be transferred to the River Kwai Village Hotel for one night.
The next day, there’s a cruise along the Skaerang River aboard a khiri nava – a traditional Thai rice barge. Then it is on to the town of Uthai Thani, continuing to Sukhothai. Day five starts with a tour of the 13th-century capital and Lampang, the only Thai town that still uses horse-drawn carriages.
Before arriving in Chiang Mai for your two-night stay, you can ascend 290 steps to the hilltop temple of Wat Phra That Doi Suthep. A cable car to the top of the hill is available. Spend day six in Chiang Mai exploring. A
