The return to feature films of the Working Dog team ( The Castle, The Dish) is not the cause for outright celebration many would have hoped. This pleasant rom-com has its moments but the plight of the title character played by Josh Lawson – an inner-city playboy going through “a quarter-life crisis” – is hard to relate to when the chips are really down. Rachael Taylor, as the international aid worker who may one day come to Ben’s romantic rescue, exudes a warmth and assurance that snaps a wavering Lawson (sometimes charming, sometimes smarmy) to attention in their scenes together. A film most will half-like rather than totally love.
