The harder they come, in Jakarta they fall. Indonesia, 97 mins

The Advertiser - SA Weekend - - FILM -

This one goes out to action-film aficionados who think they have seen it all. This brutally basic, frighteningly exciting thriller from Indonesia will jolt you out of the jaded zone. (Anyone else of a delicate persuasion should checkin to The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel and remain there until further notice.) A punchy plot centres on a police assault squad who get more than they bargained for when they storm a criminal-infested housing block in downtown Jakarta. The fight scenes are astonishing, the kill scenes are look-away-now lethal. The overall effect – often against the odds – is all adrenaline, all the time. Not so much an assault on the senses as a clinical kidnapping of your entire faculties. Not to be trifled with. Not to be forgotten. Recommended for those who want high creativity along with a high body count.
