Mad Men, Bad Girls and the Guerilla Knitters Institute Maggie Groff, Macmillan, $24.99 The author of Mothers Behaving Badly turns her hand to fiction in the comely shape of investigative reporter Scout Davis. The Byron Bay local is not your run-of-the-mill chick-lit heroine, though. For a start, she’s the mother of adult twin daughters. Not that that holds her back as she indulges in a dalliance with policeman Rafe while probing a cult on the Gold Coast, an off-shoot of the delightfully named – but dangerous – Luminous Renaissance of Illustrious Light. She’s also trying to uncover a knicker-snipper at her sister’s school and dreaming up some yarn-bombing exploits. If at times the wordplay seems a little forced, Groff scores highly (so to speak) on the luscious lust chart. Shelley Orchard
