Too Many Elephants in this House Ursula Dubosarsky and Andrew Joyner, Penguin, $24.95 Strathalbyn illustrator Andrew Joyner’s twinkling-eyed elephants overflow the pages of this exuberant story of lateral problemsolving from the duo that brought you The Terrible Plop. There are elephants in every room of Eric’s house – elephants making toast in the kitchen, building block-towers in the living room, having pillow-fights in the bedroom: Eric’s mum can’t move for elephants and says they have to go. Eric is devastated: he loves each and every one of his elephants and he can picture the havoc they’d cause in the neighbourhood if he just put them out on the street. At last he comes up with an imaginative but thoroughly practical solution and the elephants are contained to everyone’s satisfaction. Katharine England
