Disgrace Jussi Adler-Olsen, Michael Joseph, $29.99 Kimmie Lassen has money. She has a home and does not take drugs. Why then does she live on the streets of Copenhagen? Because the voices in her head say that’s the safest place to be. For Kimmie used to be part of a gang of private school kids who spent their days dropping acid and watching the film A Clockwork Orange. Then they brutalised animals, people and even each other. But the chickens are coming home to roost as a file mysteriously dropped on his desk puts cold case detective Carl Morck on their trail. The writing cannot be faulted but this second Department Q novel crosses the line for unpleasantness. Not so much Nordic noir as Nordic nasty. Shelley Orchard
