A slight yet strangely enduring black and white riff on youth. The free-spirited twentysomething, Frances (Greta Gerwig) is both captivating and annoying. Her quirkiness is teetering on the brink of irresponsibility as her friends start to settle down. Not much seems to happen but it’s deceptive. There is much pleasure to be had from the supporting actors who include Meryl Streep’s daughter, Grace Gummer, and an intellectual looking Mickey Sumner whose father is Sting.
