Flower power

TEENY, tiny flower stickers have been popping up around town... from where does this paper garden grow? Local art student Emma Sirona-Macdonald is behind the little paste-ups and says the project began during an installation class at Adelaide Central School of Arts (where this bloom was spotted). “The requirement was to make 20 prints and then devise an installation out of them,” says the 32-year-old. “I love flowers and though using the traditionally bright gerbera flower it might brighten up someone’s day.” She started small but 20 prints bloomed in to something she calls The Great Adelaide Flower Hunt. Emma places them in grey urban surrounds such as Hindley St, Morphett St, the streets of Prospect and in random train stations. “I want to see if people will interact. Will someone look up from their phone or stop for a moment on a busy city street to smile at a flower?”
