Mary Anne Woolmore’s kitchen experiments led to the creation of her locally-made gourmet balsamic vinegars.
Woolmore’s All Natural balsamic vinegars, all made in Mary Anne’s Magill kitchen, include orange scented, star anise and original sticky varieties.
“I had a huge bag of star anise in the cupboard a while back and I didn’t know what to do with them so decided to use them to flavour a balsamic vinegar and it tasted fantastic,” Mary Anne says.
“I came up with the orange-scented vinegar when I was wanting to learn how to cook duck properly and I was looking for the perfect accompaniment.”
Mary Anne’s boutique condiments are available at 34 outlets in South Australia.
The talented cook, who has a sales background, says Woolmore’s is a true family affair. Her husband Grant, kids Nick, 18, and Zoe, 22, and her mum Pam are all part of the business.
“I do my deliveries on Thursdays so you don’t want to be at our house on Wednesday nights which is when everyone chips in to get the orders packed up,” she says.
“My husband is in real estate but used to be a photographer with a digital imaging business so he created all my product labels.”
